  4. We had Lynx at the other end of the hanger, it was like we were working on an old british motorbike and they were fixing modern jap bikes.Ours stayed in the air longer.

  6. I had the very unfortunate job of looking after the scene of an air crash where a Tornado collided with a Cessna. Couldn't believe the sheer amount or wiring a Tornado has and how basic a Cessna is. Sad time but fascinating all the same.
     
  7. I live near Yeovil, almost daily we have Lynx out test flying over the village, they are SO noisey..........I'm sure its done to get the enemy to run like hell, five minutes before the heli. arrives!
    The Whirlwind had 56 grease nipples on the rotor head, all had to be greased daily, I spent a year doing this in the Gulf in 1967.

  9. I used to think they were huge...until I saw one in the hanger at Wroughton a few years back...looked quite small :eek:
     
  10. Looks an interesting place :) Living almost under a flight corridor between Duxford and Biggin hill means the summer weekends do have the odd WW2 stuff flying over but nothing civilian. There is an elderly Brittania doing a cargo run from Southend that puts in an appearence now and again.
     
  11. My brother used to fly them . John Templeton Smith Google Saigon express, or rolling thunder, one of many books he had publish, he did a guiness book of record, in 1974 flying a Rockwell commander from Newfoundland to Gatwick.

Jobs I've done, rolls Royce, eagle diesel engine machining , rolls Royce engine parts, especially for some big bomber that went to bomb some island were argued had invaded, I hand spun, tops and bottoms for hot water cylinders, I made gearboxes for power tools, and now make gauges for checking threads,
