Manifold boots

  1. Hi
I've been putting off replacing the manifold boots on my 1600 twin port.
It's an engine out job, right? Looks a fiddle!
Thinking I may as well check the fuel tank etc whilst the engines out.
    Any tips?
    Cheers

  2. I did mine last year with the engine in situ...bit fiddley but doable.

  3. There was a company in the states making split boots so it could be done in situ, I guess you glued and clipped them in to place afterwards. I will see if i can find them.

  4. As said they'd doable with the engine in but much easier with it out if you fancy dropping it and taking a look behind the firewall at the state of the tank and its plumbing...tank breathers and the lower tank filling pipe. Just be aware that the firewall is not only held by the screws you can see but there a couple of sneaky ones that come up from underneath on either side.

  5. I've got the boots.
Yes I was going to look at he filler pipe and breathers.
Didn't realise there would be some sneaky screws to find on he fire wall thou so thanks for that!

  6. did mine with the engine in and didn't take very long at all

Doable with it in, but I'd take it out anyway for the ease of getting it all settled back together again and save working through a hole.

    The choice is yours. :D
