  1. I'm working on a 76 bay... a buddies of mine, all I did was replace heater cables and installed the blower fan and fresh air and hot air tubes. after this being two'ish weeks it will start, not idle very well but drive just fine. after X amount of time it will no longer start... almost as if it is flooded. If you unplug the MAF sensor it idles a bit fast but will idle plug the sensor in and it dies. Bought a new MAF sensor does the same thing. I know im new and I havnt takin the time too introduce myslef... but I really need help im stumped... I havnt checked the Fuel Pressure Regulator yet... just seems odd that this would go out after just sitting...I am Levi by the way I own a 78 bay...auto though... but I plan on fixing that... oh and any good advice on carb conversion would be nice too haha

  2. Hi, and welcome :).

Have a look on www.ratwell.com for plenty of info on diagnosing bus FI problems. Don't chuck your FI out - in good shape, it's better than carbs!

  3. I've been reading atwell for awhile now i used his info on lineing my gas tank. Nothing has really jumped out at me, I'm stumped ive checked the regulator, pump, plugs, injectors, coil is new cap and rotor look fine... idk thanx for the advice though ima keep pluggin away at it.

  4. Obvious question - did it run fine before you did the work?

Check the fuel filter isn't blocked, its a common problem, infancy you could bypass it temporarily to see if it makes a difference

  7. checked and replaced the filter... the gas coming from the tank looks clean... but i cant be forsure that theres no rust in the tank as this happend to my 78 i guess that could be the problem. and yes it did run and from what my buddy said GREAT!!! this is his first bus though and i get the feeling hes not a car guy so who knows what great is for him.(not talkin smack he is a good guy) so it did run and sat for two weeks waiting for cables and hoses to show up i put them on and then it would start idle fast for 2 min maybe then after that it wouldnt idle but drive fairly well and then it just didnt wanna start as if it was flooded... replaced the MAF same thing. I just had it running for oh idk 5 min. pulled the plugs and now there soaked in gas, fuel pressure regulator?... i checked that a day er two ago and it seemend okay there was a little air flow when i blew through it but not alot. I am at a brick wall and he would like his bus back sometime this year hahaha I appreciate the responses guys.
