I am considering one of these as a cheaper alternative to hiring trailers everytime I need to move my fleet (in particular the Beetle) I know its for a beetle only but I am sure I could cobble something together for other cars? http://www.machine7.com/product.php?xProd=3354 1 question - does your car need to be MOT'd taxed, insured to be towed on its own wheels so to speak or being towed via A frame legal?
I'm sure I read somewhere that A frames are for recovery use only. It is illegal to use them for other use. Can't remember where I read it. Stick with your trailer Here this is from a company selling them Don't be misled into thinking you can save some cash by using an un-braked A-frame to tow a car behind your motorhome . The lawsays that if brakes are fitted to the car they MUST be used! Towing A-frames used to recover broken down vehicles are subject to different rules and stringent speed limits.
We used the towbar same as the Just Kampers one: http://www.justkampers.com/towbar-bundle-kit-for-vw-t2-bay-with-standard-exhaust-1972-1979.html fits really well, its not obtrusive and does the job (Kieft n Klok sell the same kit for 250 euros)
Thanks for the help guys. I knew there was a catch! Ok will stick to hiring trailers, they are not that expensive just a faff.
