No that its. M plates comprise of numbers and a few letters and the plate is painted the colour of the bus.

It's not uncommon for Aussie buses not to have them so it seems.

Thought so, so wonder what this is, maybe it's a bit like the Aussie equivalent or some legal crap they had to have.

Legal crap they have to have. Australia has some strange automotive rules.

All vehicles manufactured or imported into Australia have one of these. Basically it shows that the vehicle is compliant with the A D R's (Australian Design Rules).
This is Australia wide & then each state has individual rules regarding registrations & licensing, bloody confusing as what may be legal in one state is illegal elsewhere

    Thanks Terrordales,

Is there a way I can find out about any of the vehicles history, I've heard it's practically impossible with Aussie buses.

Razzyh sorry mate it is near impossible down here. Apart from each state & territory having their own registration & licensing departments they aren't allowed to hand the information out under Privacy Legislation. I've got mates in the police & they can't access anything other than current owner without a court order.

Wow, that's pretty strict, but good on them, over here, it seems to be free for all

    Mines an Aussie import too.
I joined an Aussie forum (can't remember the name off hand) and asked a few questions about the various garages mentioned in all the Aussie history I've got.
Couldn't glean much but it seems it was a well looked after bus whilst down there.

  12. Razzy, our chassis plate in the uk bus is behind the driver seat and the m-plate is behind the passenger one, have you checked the opposite side of your bus?

  13. feeling your pain with a loss of an M plate, my bus had its cut out when some removed the bit behind the seat , still have the chassis plate though and it matches the number in the engine, thank goodness

I've looked behind the passenger seat not much there - there is a deluxe paint code or something there - will take a pic and show when I'm in the van next.
