Unlikely, I'd think. I'm not sure when the DIN-hole changed. I've got the equivalent in the garage (bought from Kaufhof in Munich in 1980 - I'm sure I'd get AFN or Bayerische Rundfunk on it if I turned it on ). I'll go and have a measure up... Unless you're super keen on DAB, the 80s Blaupunkts were pretty capable for FM, so you may not need to disembowel yours. It's straightforward enough to add a jack for an MP3 player if you've got your wits about you.
PS It's actually against the law to fit anything but a Blaupunkt to your German van. Rather like fitting anything made by Lucas. Both attract prison sentences of up to five years.
not like mine malc ive been looking for a pic but cant find , it might not of been a pye it was very sixties america if you know the ones.
Right, @Bhubesi. Do you prefer to be mounted from the front or the rear? Old BPs tend to be rear mounted, but the chassis of an old Hamburg I measured will slip into a modern sleeve (about 182mm x 54mm), but you'd have to find some way of securing it at the back. If you're going to be mounting from the rear (I had to say it again ), you'll need an oblong hole 106mm x 41mm for the sticky-out bit, plus you'll need to drill two 10mm knob holes on 130mm centres. So wird's gemacht! (as the German has it).
I really would appreciate if you could have a measure up for me, I hope that the hole is the correct size. I purchased a Phillips radio in 1977 which fitted, but was stolen when the bus was being shipped to Dubai. This was replaced with a Sony cassette tape radio which also fitted. I am replacing the Sony unit, as I have taken all my cassettes to the dump, and as CD's are going obsolete, we are taking a giant step forward to MP3's etc. Tony
Thanks very much indeed for that info. its given me a lot more confidence. Tony PS To be mounted either way these days would be a fine thing!!
The radio I'm looking at, has got a plain black trim panel fitted, looking as if its in pretty good condition. Tony
