Louvre window seal

  1. Devon Sundowner..

I'm needing a seal to reinstall my louvre window, but can't find anything.
Anyone know where I can get one? It's the last piece of the puzzle!!

Just to note that it is not like a Westfalia louvre window. The seal is an 'H' section, and the grooves both approx 1.2mm wide

  2. What are the opening sizes (without the insert) and width of your existing seal? As you can see from the photo below, although this is a 1.2mm&6mm seal, the 6mm side squeezes down to about 2mm with the insert.

  3. I am also on the same quest. The closest I can find so far is JK who state theirs is 3mm for both slots (see pic below)
    C&C 2mm & 7mm
    Megabug 3mm & 4mm
    Coolair 3mm & 5mm
    Heritage 2.7mm & 4.6mm
    Schofield tbd
    Seals direct tbd
All sized to accept glass. Also need to consider overall width and minimum bend radius.
Let me know if you find anything better![IMG]

Get it from sealsdirect.co.uk. They do loads of sizes.

  5. Closest sealsdirect do is 3mm&3mm - looks same as the JK stuff. I guess it doesn't matter if water gets in to the ally side.

I don't know if it was an original thang but I've seen more than one with an additional thin u shapped seal bonded onto the perimeter of the aluminium frame. I bought some recently for a different job from ebay.

I also put some windscreen sealant around both grooves. I know they’re supposed to seal without but it doesn’t hurt.

  8. looks like we've been on exactly the same hunt, although I've also been looking in nz and oz. I no longer have the original to compare to either.... im thinking of maybe trying the sealsdirect 3mm/3mm??

  9. Additional U-seal may be the way forward, @twodogs suggested this too. It could also be used to slightly change the dimensions of the ally frame to better fill the aperture in the van - a 15mm seal is not going to fill a 16mm gap!

  10. Good advice guys. Will let you know how I get on.
    Cheers

  12. that look to be the best option yet!.. cheers Skater 8

  13. Seal samples still to arrive, I am guessing the posties are overwhelmed. There are two different inserts to give different tightnesses, they have said they will send both, and enough to go round a corner to determine if the bend radius is ok

  14. I had issues many, many years ago when I attempted to fit a twin louvre to my flat glass Devon. There weren't the internet resources then that there are now but after much faffing I used a cut down Bay windscreen seal. Worked a treat and has never leaked in the 20 years since.

Just fitted my louvre window and used a standard side window seal, the louvre had the original rubber strip around the circumference of the alum, fitted a treat.
