Looks like a leaking carb

  1. i have twin solex, but they're are the Brazilian 32/34 types not the originals. Anyway, don't think that really matters. One of them doesn't squirt fuel properly. When I operate the throttle, instead of a jet coming out of the atomiser exit hole in a nice jet, fuel floods out from all around the butterfly. Can't pinpoint where it's actually coming from though. Is this one of those cases I read about when it needs rebushing?

These are only on temporarily as I'm fitting a pair of 36 dells, but if it's not rebushing and a simple fix, I may as well sort it.

    Thanks

Float could be to high or the main gasket between the 2 halves split

  3. Got a new gasket between the halves so can rule that out. I'll check the float height again though. Would that be enough to cause the flood? Where's the "over flow" so I can try to see if it's coming out of there

There's no overflow , if the float level is to high it will flood

  5. Checked the float height and this one was out (and letting more in than the other one. I put in a shim which actually made it slightly lower than the other side and in tolerance, but didn't make a difference. I then looked more closely down the air intake as I operated the throttle, and what was happening was the jet was squirting out of the pipe fine, but was spraying onto the top of the venturi so the fuel was then washing round and coming out of the butterfly like a flood. I tweaked the position slightly so it squirted out through the throttle hole so it's better but not perfect. It catches the butterfly plate now. It's good enough though as it allowed me to set the idle and airflow so they're more or less matched, so it runs miles better now.

    Thanks for your help
