Looking for head lining fitters in London / SE areas

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by mi2itsdl, May 1, 2013.

  1. Need to get my head liner replaced, just don't know where to take it.

Live in Cheam just outside Epsom, so anyway in the London area, or within a 40 mile or so radius.

Also, is it a one day job, where I can hang about and then drive home, or would I have to leave my bus??

Do all the windows need to come in, because if they do, I might replace them as they all have scratches on them?

  2. Cant help you with the area but a lot depends on your van? I presume its a tintop from the piccie?
The headlining is only glued on the front under the windscreen rubber (I think?) not sure about the back on yours (mine is a pop top so I only have headlining in the cab?) Technically you need to really take the windscreen out to get the correct tension on it. If they are making it from scratch they will want it in overnight but if you are providing the headlining ready made it should only take them half a day or so?
Hope this helps? If your windscreen is going to come out might be worth replaceing the rubber seal if its looking a bit old? Or get a heated front windscreen maybe at the same time? You can polish out most scratches T Cut do a glass polishing product , well T cut for Glass I suppose

  5. Cheers for your reply's.

Andy. Born again classics is a bit too far away in Milton Keynes.

Birdy. Could not find a web site for Gemini Seat Covers .............and can I trust you Stu?? It may be a trap !!

Stan. Having my roof painted in 3 weeks, so front glass is coming out then as well. Seal will be brand new, as will be replacing.
Is it worth getting a heated front screen? Do they draw a lot of amps? so none of the side windows need to be removed, is that correct?
Also my windows were scratched, when the guy who had the bus before me, did not remove the windows when he sanded the bus down, with an electric sander before painting it. Many time he has caught the glass, leaving circular marks. I'll give the T Cut glass polisher a go, but not sure it will take these out !!

You're right it is a trap but you'll love it

They look after the interior needs of Natalie's fleet of buses and I've sent someone there recently. Majorhangover told me about them first.

  7. I used Gemini for my wife's car and plan to use them for my bus, I've been planning this for around 3 years now..........

There's no web site and it doesn't look much from the outside but they did a great job at a good price.
