  1. So I had been staying at my mum and dad's for a couple of days and when I came home I noticed this little beauty sat on a drive across the road... safe to say I did a happy squeeel... and had to take a pic...

I'm not the only bay in the village anymore :) I put a note about thelatebay on and he's joined @Andy hinch... just waiting for his intro and info on his bus ;)

So Molly T-Pot and Bella have a friend :)

  3. U missed the intro the other day, nice pic :)

  4. that's really nice :)

I stopped a chap the other day round the corner coming out of a drive with two fold up chairs, in the garden is a green bay and a restro split. I stood there like an awkward lump, then said 'hello, I own the bay round the corner I have noticed your bay before and now the spilt'. The chap smiled nicely and said ' oh there not mine their my mates' ..............Row slunk away .

  6. Its that odd mentality - stick me in a field full of nutters and I'll talk to 'em all... but put me in a field with only one nutter and I don't want it to be me!

I saw a bay on a site a few weeks ago, was gonna pop over and say 'hi' but never got chance, they'd left next morn - I turn up in the background of his photo on here!! Few days later and I see another bay on a diff site, same story, planned on popping over the next morning. So i'm standing there with my brew/beer (don't remember exact time) in my hand and a recovery truck pulls on-site, driver checks his clipboard as he looks at me and I just pointed into the lower field. Felt so guilty that I hadn't realised they had 'issues'... they drove off themselves the following morning, albeit with some fueling/carb issues :(

  7. That happened to me once, a few years ago in Cornwall. A yellow bay turned up in the same field as us, so on my way to the loo or somewhere past the yellow van I said hello and they responded so I tried to strike up a bit more of a conversation with "How long have you had your van?" "Not long" was the reply and from there on it got slightly awkward... I got the impression they weren't fully into the camper life style! Ah well as you say win some lose some... Last year I did get into conversation with a bloke that had hired a splitty for travelling around Cornwall, so I bored him about my old van. Little did he realise that conversation only cemented my determination to buy another this year....

Nice that you've got other Bay owners near by anyway... I'm told there's another lives near me but I've only seen a grey Dormy Crossover at Tesco so no idea where it lives...

I always have a morning putting Tlb cards on vans when I'm at download festival. Quite a few owners stop and have a chat. One in particular stopped me and asked what the hell I was doing. I handed him a card and told him about Tlb. He'd only just bought his bus and knew nothing of the scene. He asked me if I was gay and am I trying to bum him. Then his mates started to ridicule me lol
I walked away with my tail between my legs to a hail of abuse
Safe to say I card vans by the cover of darkness now and am extremely careful who I approach ha

  10. of course I am known for my charming personality and love of people, but at Breck farm there were lots of other bays, so I would wander over , smile, say 'morning' .......................nothing , nothing at all. But spoke to a yellow LB owner in Sainsburys car park the other day..............even walked all the way across the car park to look at his bus, he was nice . Oh and also the other week, we were parked in the childrens bit, sainsburys car park, in our Ford .........another car pulled up so touching noses, Bray said 'look they have a campervan smelly hanging from their mirror', before I could blink my mother was out the car and talking to them ( them oldies more fast if you don't watch them). They had owned bays and now had an Eriba their son was involved in DATH, lovely couple, really lovely , and as they left they gave Bray the smelly ..............as it was my mother asking where it had come from which started the conversation .......' for my 6 year old grandson' .............felt the dublove that day

  12. Wish we'd had some TLB cards with us at Womad - there were hundreds of bays. Though on normal campsites we've found it more to be people coming over to talk to us and say that they used to have one, then we get chatting.

  13. A couple of years back I got super excited following a split through the village, big grin as it turned into our estate, bigger as it turned into our road! I nearly exploded as it parked outside our house!!! Had hubby bought us one?? Anyhoo driver got out and went in next door. I'm still stoked at this point we'll have a split next door. Turns out its their mechanic who's daily van has broke down. Short chat later their mechanic is our mechanic :) but we're still the only camper in the road :(

  14. I've given out more TLB cards than I have had beers over the last 4 years - not many people have joined the forum ...

One guy said to me - 'why the F would I want to talk to a bunch of freaks online'

    :(
