Log cabin recommendations

Thats what I was thinking, the most unsuitable material to use for a support batten...I was picturing long lengths of thin slate tacked to the underside of the joists with slate nails.

 

A bit like "meat hooks", hooks for hanging your meat and not hooks made out of meat.

 

And a fog horn..

 

Or slate nails !

 

Or glass hammers

 

Or ring spanners.

 

Keep an eye on her, or she'll be round the back of the shed having a fag

I had one built last year. Great job, good price.
Had contractor build base.
I only wanted the outer shell built with tiled roof and upvc windows.
I then I insulated, subdivided, did electrics and t&g the inside.

Just a small follow on having read some of the answers to your post. If insulation is an issue in your present building, some houses locally have been externally insulated. The owners seem to be eastern european or polish, so the external insulation may originate there. They screw or nail approx 50mm thick solid panel insulation, externally on the house, then render over it and paint it.

 

I believe it is yes, alongside about 4 sheets of asbestos roofing!
The bamboo and roofing sheets look to both be firmly in my neighbours garden so I was going to leave both well alone. The concrete block wall isn't the best of builds to be honest and looks to just be blocks set in the ground with about another 2-3 rows buried underground.
I'll still have easy access round the back of the build to keep an eye on it all and replace the wall in future if I need so for now think I'm going to leave it all as is.

It is indeed . We had to use a JCB to dig out and rid the roots , they come out in one great conglomeration evil things .
Any gap and they will get through , they will easily get through gaps in wood .
I would get shot of them whilst you have decent space James .
