Like a haggard drug addict, my 75 twin slider Panel van

  1. Hey Folks.
Im new to the forum, literally just signed up today.
I've been stalking around for ages, but now i've finally got a van I thought i'd sign up and start a thread.
After about 4 years of looking for the 'right' van at the 'right' price, one came up, literally 10miles down the road.
Cant get better than that, the owner was genuine (unlike the last dub I bought, getting totally screwed over)
So i knew this was the one for me.

Its a 1975 twin slider panel, I wasnt looking for a twin, but im pretty chuffed :) I cant help but love commercials.

Anyway, so the van looks like a bag of rusty nails, but, NO ROT?! I've been over it with a pointy stick, and, woah, just woah.

So despite its appearance, its all good. Its just bare inside, currently i've got no door seals fitted, and its an eyesore of a colour.

    See for yourselves.

The first plan of action was to paint it. But im keeping it in my garage at the moment and the amount of room i have to maneuver is naff all.
So its been a slow start.

And i was also disappointed that my visions of olive drab were slightly different to the actual shade of the paint. Clearly i'd romanticised it abit too much. haha

I'll get some pics of the interior soon before i start work.

    Plans are,
    Insulate it
Ply it out (door cards/roof lining etc.)
Rear seats/Bed (with some lap belts)
    Leisure Battery
Convert back to a single carb as its running lumpy even after I've had it tuned.
Get some sweet audio sorted (already got sub/amp/6x9's/headunit)
    Fit lighting inside,
    Some Wheels!!
Lower abit more maybe? (its on red 9)
    and many other little bits.
I'll try and keep this updated as I go.

    And thats it really.

Enjoy the thread. (once i get going with it) haha.

    Jon.

  2. Oh, if anyone has any hub caps for sale, i would be interested :)

Also, my camera was set up all wrong when i took those photos so the white balance is abit off, meaning the pics look slightly washed out.

So i'll get some better ones soon.

  3. nice one brother ...love ya bus already ..would look luvly in satin black

  4. I would love it this colour, finished with matt black touches. (like the roof/bumpers, basically just copying this van i guess)

  5. Two more pics of that colour... I was thinking its like a lighter version of olive drab, im unsure if i should mix some white into my olive drab to make a similar colour?

I like that as it is. Your camera settings must have worked magic on it :)

    And loving the licence plate.

  10. Looks pretty cool to me as it is. A s you say, a little more lowering, a nice set of alloys and some low profiles and it'll be sweet.

  11. Welcome to the highs and hopefully not too many lows of late bay ownership.
