Hello just à quick 1 when i then my headlights on is the battery light suppose to come on

no mate the battery light only comes on when ignition on or your fan belts bust!

 

Likely your alternator isn't charging, or you've got a duff battery.

 

Charged battery at the weekend So cannot be that . My van starts every time and when i take the handbrake of the light gos out bit when i put the headlights on the light comes back on

 

sounds like an earth fault

 

So should i be lookin round the battery area

 

No start on the terminals up front, Round the switches, Give them a good clean. If it has a bad connection it can cause problems. I had a similar problem and this cured it. worth a try.

 

could also be that the little bit in the dash that stops light from one warning light showing on another has fallen off

 

Where is the light: in the instruments or on the dash?

No its light with à b on it the thing is when i switch the lights on with no keys in the light stays of

 

I think the light your referring to is the brake system low pressure/handbrake warning light.

 

I think you need to get the wiring behind the instruments sorted. The "B" light is the warning light for the brakes. The alternator light is in the left-hand instrument pod, next to the oil light.

A good sort out with a wiring diagram, I think. If the real alt light's not working, it's unlikely your battery will charge properly.

 

So what do i need to check

 

Post up a few pics of the rear of your instrument cluster.

 

I still have the orange b light on when i then the headlights on but when i flash the headlights and the orange light dos Not come on So have i got à lose wire
