Lighting a candle

  1. A lot of people on here supported me in my sponsored silence in June for my friend's very poorly little boy, Jaiden.

Through that fundraising I raised an amazing £5,000 which went to the Families Against Neuroblastoma charity. Neuroblastoma is a very aggressive form of children's cancer and little Jaiden was diagnosed at Stage 4 in April this year, aged just 20 months.

For the last 6 months Jaiden has been fighting this horrible disease. His family have been to hell and back. Jaiden had just been given the all clear when his body shut down and just couldn't take any more.

Today I attended Jaiden's funeral, a very dark day indeed. The church was packed to the rafters, and I think every single person's heart broke in two when Jaiden's dad Lee carried his son's tiny coffin out of the church to bury him.

I wanted to thank all of you who so kindly sponsored me, your money will go to help other families with children facing this horrid situation.

Please light a candle, or spare a thought or prayer for Jaiden's family tonight - his mum, my amazing colleague and friend Claire and his lovely dad Lee.
