Does anyone have experience of this conversion. My van is LHD and my wife is too scared to drive it. Is it a complex and expensive job or something worth doing? I guess it's not a DIY job so I'd look someone up to do it for me!
i'm sure someone on here was/is doing it but for the life of me i can't think who - or even if it was before the old site crashed....... it's a fair job and considering your van isn't really something you've had long or had time to become attatched to i'd think wisely about bothering - have you considered a new wife?
Either new wife like Rick said or new van. Pointless conversion IMHO. It'll cost a whack and devalue what your left with.
If you can't bring yourself to trade her in, get her to drive it around an industrial estate for half an hour. She'll soon realise its not a problem to drive a left hooker.
Has your wife tried to drive it yet, or any camper ? Would she even want to drive a rhd ? What about going to a deserted industrial estate for spin ? Reckon it would be cheaper to go for a new van rather than conversion. Great minds Baysearcher !
seriously though, a lhd panel is a bit hardcore - my mrs won't drive my lhd westy 'cos it's lhd and an auto so i know what you mean, question is - does she have to drive it? it reallly is a job and a half for the odd trip and you'd be better selling yours and putting the considerable amount to convert towards a rhd van.
I can see an original rhd being worth more than a lhd but not a converted one. Personally I wouldn't touch it as it'd likely be done like the Danburys that look lethal!
i know what woodster is saying to a degree BUT as i say UNLESS the van is sentimental or something you can't get in original rhd why bother..... can you do all the work yourself? can you afford the cost? can you do without it for a few months?
Would the insurers be interested in the change from left to right hooker? Must surely class as a (fairly major) mod.
I think it was Rixy who converted his bus to RHD, but what's the point! I drive a left hooker every day, it's not a problem. Sort your mrs out dude
