It was all work and not much play to get 7 GCE O levels. I used to do some gardening jobs and clean my brothers' motor bikes to earn a bit of cash, so going to the pub had to wait another year or two. My brother's had a vinyl collection and I started to buy a few myself but they were expensive in those days. and I was in the Scouts and loved it, badges, games, camps, lighting fires, cooking outdoors, it was great, do kids do that anymore or is it just computers in bedrooms now.
Oh I forgot to mention me and my mates obsession with train spotting, steam mad and we spent what little cash we had on doing the London stations and loco sheds before steam went. Simple but happy times. I bet 15 year olds these days wouldn't be that independent.
Mid 70's, would've sneaked in the Top of the World or if we were feeling brave the Tudor Rose making a light and bitter last as long as possible as all my cash would've gone on buying 10 No 10 fags. Then off to bed so I can get up in time to go to work at Seafarer fish and chips to earn my 35p an hour on Saturday.
Probably round my bezzy mate’s house lounging in her bedroom, giggling giggling and giggling over absolutely nothing for hours. I wasn’t allowed ‘out’ until I was 16 and even THEN had to be back by ten.
I was going to put something along those lines but I could already sense the Mods raising an eyebrow or two in readiness
In the summer I'd have been working in Sandown Theatre on the pier. In the winter general hanging out around the seafront.
Probably walking back from my girlfriends house in me duffel coat with my LPs under my arm. Strangely, girls didn't seem to find all four sides of Tales of Topographic Oceans particularly erotic
Yeah me too - Friday night was ATC night - and hoping to get picked for flying in Chipmunks on the Saturday morning at Woodvale , or shooting at Altcar in the afternoon.
