leisure battery charging question

  1. As i understand it, the Ctek 250S dual charger is not a 240V charger, it's a 12v DC to 12v DC, battery to battery charger. It has similar charging technology to its 240v chargers, i.e. multi stage charging depending on battery condition etc... it has 2 input options too, one being the alternator, then when you're parked up you can have a solar panel trickle charge in to it. It seems a bit extravagant but surely the charging system has to be better than straight from the alternator??

    From the link....

If you rely on battery power without access to shore power / 230V hook-up, this new product from CTEK should be high up on your shopping list. When used in conjunction with the right batteries, a suitable solar panel and CTEK's SmartPass, it really can allow you to stay off mains hook-up indefinitely.

The Dual 250S is an intelligent, five-stage battery charger that works in much the same way as CTEK's other chargers, The big difference is that this model is powered from a vehicle's or boat's starter battery so that the domestic / auxiliary batteries are efficiently charged whenever the engine is running,
