  1. advice please< when i got my bus , it was a bit of a shed, specifically it had no rear bumper,i ran it for a summer without fitting one, then got one from mega bug and fitted it, so far so good, now ive removed it and cannot be bothered refitting it , (as its fiddly to fit and its freezing here, )i was told you dont really legally need to have one fitted? as long as nothing projects from rear of vehicle? my stainless steel exhaust projects outwards a bit ,say 175mm, what anyone know re this?legal/not legal,? if not legal, wot would the charge be? >ta for any advice/help

  2. I'd put it back on simply to protect your exhaust, when I used to run a supertrapp I kept my motorcycle rack on to protect it.
They are relatively delicate & hot.
You don't need to be singeing folks ankles in this weather.

  3. Bumpers are cosmetic. Shouldn't have any sticky-out bits, tho'

i don't think you legally need bumpers - especially if the fittings aren't there, however i think you may fall foul with having a protruding edge (the exhaust) sticking out, guess it depends on the tester on the day, for the sake of 4 bolts and 15 minutes i'd put it back on, interesting fact though, if they can do you for exhaust sticking out, why can the towbar stick out if you have one.....

  5. TA guys, it was told to me that a member of public may trip over protruding tail pipe , which if u walk that close to the bus would be the result.

  6. I used to have a beetle with nurf bars and an exhaust that used to stick out. I never had a problem with these, i.e MOT. Both of which could be classed as trip hazards or sharp edges.

agree chris, that's why i mentioned towbars, my swan neck one sticks out a lot, depends if the tester got the ride the morning of the test then.....
