Since discovering latex gloves (stop sniggering at the back) I have never looked back. The skin has finally regrown on my hands! Forgetting Vinyl gloves which are as durable as toiletpaper, the cheapest I have found is Amazon for Nitrile ones £5.80 delivered for 100, medium sized. (fancied trying them for a change over latex) Costco used to sell them for £3 a pack but now have shot up to over £7!! But there must be a cleaning company or similar that sells these for peanuts ! They are all made in Thailand for chocolate buttons..........
after 20+ years of DIY, building and car messin I got fed up of getting covered in sh** and oil is evil stuff as is celly paint etc etc. Sometimes agreed you cant use them as you cant feel that 11mm nut you are supposed to fit in the arse end of the engine but the rest of the time they are a god send!
I use them most off the time usually go to the local auto factors or cheap crap shop we have byology pay about £3.50 a box. Always keep a box in the split screen hate getting dirty hands on the roadside and not being able to wash them.
Good idea my local shop used to be great for all this stuff but now they stop selling the boxes just packs of 10 which cost as much as a pack of 100! I will try a few other old haunts then see if they still sell them?
Well , as a guy(me) who has worked "on the knock" in my lifetime , on " signing on " day a pair of "magic gloves " were essential ! i.e. when "doon the broo" they never had the opportunity to observe my usually manky oil covered(short) nails , push comes to shove a pair of Marigolds will suffice.Has anyone on this site ever seen the H&S at the time,(70"s) videos ,of why you should always wash your hands when working with say ,oil ? particularly before you go to the toilet , and then the film shows young fellas previously in the vehicle trade whose "tackle" is riddled with cancer ? after that seeing that ,I washed my mits on a 2 hour loop, covered my hands with protective cream and wore the gloves.
Hey Terrodales ,mate , during 1977 I too went to that very same clinic ! what got me was when the hatchet faced old crone pulled on a pair of those gloves and said "this is going to hurt" >and boy,she was not kidding !all that to get a "your tests came back negative " letter ! not even an apology .
I could never get on with gloves so as said up there ^^ I tend tone naked even when I used to rod Marmite filled drains. Now days I tend to start a job then remember the latex but its to late so don't bother.
