The karma thing on here seemed nice when i first came on tlb now i am not so sure, i mean it was like " hey i love that post , thanks for the advice , you made me smile " i liked it and i have given loads of karma out .

Now - i am not so sure , some people say things just for karma , some people don't give karma because they think you have enough or are posting to get it: it creates a hierarchy in a way " oh look at him he has lots of karma he must be important etc then on the other hand you have people with very little karma , they post and have been members for ages but you automatically think they are new or do not add much !

Not so sure i like the karma thing any more tbh

There has been mention of a like button - what do you think ?

i think it is good for when people help you, but giving k for "winter camp karma" why? it means nothing, to be fair i rarely use a computer now and you can't give it on tapatalk (unless you sign in safari) so if i go on the comp i'll fire a few off to peeps who helped me recently, i genuinely have no idea of my score now and ain't overly fussed.

I think its good until "karma-whoring" becomes prevalent.
Unfortunately on here, I think its become prevalent.

It doesnt really matter to me if it stays or goes as I only hand it out if someone gives me some anyway! If people are really that interested on what people think of what they post then a "like" button may be preferable. (Although this will lead to "like-whoring".

    :)

Karmas has dried up recently :( Baysearcher Im distraught about it, its all I ever think about, maybe your like button is a good idea, maybe a dislike button is an even better idea

I think it's a good option to have. I give it to people who help me out, or talk sense, or make me laugh.

I just checked and I give more than I receive but I think that's a nice way to be :)

  14. The whole karma thing seems to have died down for a while now. A year or 2 ago it seemed that there were some 'karma tarts' who were solely out to boost their karma score - sometimes with posts pleading for it!

The Buddhist belief that whatever you do comes back to you, e.g. if you do something good, something good will happen to you, and vice versa.

I bet the amount of positive karma given far outweighs the negative, as people like to be nice generally, rather than be negative to others.

I agree that karma should be given to say thanks or well done, but perhaps we should all be ready to as negative as we are postive when needs be........

It keeps the post numbers up, what's karma thing mean under my name?

I like it as its in keeping with the forum ethos

Mind you if you go looking for it then that's not real karma

As I said else where a like button would kill post replies but a dislike could kick it of with loads of posts. ;)
