when my wee girl died i stopped the priest at the front door and told him NO PRAYERS in my house don t EVEN think of calling for a rosery . this is going to be a mixed house of religions i want no one put on the spot he agreed he later got married , he was eating the alter rails and shagging some bird

I'm afraid you are wrong there, Barry.
Without any science, people would invent gods to explain the inexplicable like fire, thunder etc. These 'gods' would then be used by the authorities to control the people and justify their wars. Science would eventually catch up (after a few scientists have been burnt at the stake) but by then it would be too late.

If you don't believe me, take a look at the history books. It's all there!

 

But think about it, think about all the Money that would be saved on not buying Christmas presents and no more cheesy Christmas ads

Back in the day, things were done in the correct order...saved for a deposit on house, married, bought house, saved so you could afford to have kids.....then flash cars and holidays.
Heard a relations girls talking to some other young girls....one was moaning that she had never been a bridesmaid and one of the others said, quite shocked, " what, not even for your Mum and dad's wedding!"

Kids can make their own minds up...my niece was christened as a baby, then had full immersion jobbie in her 20's.

Humans get confused by the randomness of the world so they develop religions to explain it. Later on groups with different sets of beliefs define "us" and "them".
They are on our patch, they are strange, their beliefs threaten us... eliminate them and their evil and wrong beliefs.

The biggest wars in the past were fought between the businesses funded by tithes. You pay 10% we protect and enforce your beliefs and provide social care in return for promise of heaven even if you do not comply fully with the rules.
The 10% you give us buys all that and provides a chance of coming home with plunder after a military campaign to support your beliefs.

Now it costs more than 10%..

 

For me, I think that pretty much sums up what Jesus says, tbh....
With one or two nuances!
