It Seemed so Easy

  1. Started off by replacing Rear brake shoes, thought I would bleed Brakes, "snap" one bleed nipple.
Ok renew both rear wheel cylinders, done no probs, had a look at old seals and cylinders, Humm bit of grotty gunge in there, brakes didn't feel too good a bit spongy so renew master cylinder.
Took off old complete with reservoir, reservoir full of like a grey scale, removed top reservoir, washed the whole lot in sink left on radiator for two days to completely dry out looks good, the sink? thought you would never ask took two days to clean the scum mark away.
Master cylinder had definitely leaked from the primary seal into servo.
Now would be a good time to engage brain.
Servo felt a little stiff to push pedal so yeah why not remove it and clean it up.
Unfastened four nuts, removed hoses and pedal connection turned the servo slowly to help remove it and!! all the leaked brake fluid from over the years from previous owners poured out of the vacuum hose connection, I was quick enough to shut my eyes and turn the head side ways but thank god for head and shoulders, the bath? yes took a while to get rid of that scum mark too.
The brakes? good, all fitted, all bled, no leaks Tilly stops great and straight.
It just seemed so easy to start with, but isn't that part of the fun of owning a camper.

    Lofty and paradox like this.
  2. ah! famous last words - this will only take 10 minutes ...........
