Is this normal? (Engine)

Just fitted my temperature sender in place of the taco plate.

While it was off I was cleaning it and noticed this "groove" inside.

Is it normal?!

Looks like it was cut with a dremel!

I agree it's home made. Not familiar enough with what's the other side of that, but people do chop bits out to allow the oil more chance of moving about in the cae.
Paul will tell us.
Or maybe someone dropped something in the case and that was a desperate attempt to retrieve it? Probably not. lol

 

I think you could be write ...can't think of any other reason .

 

Apparently this is a known mod. My slit is quite small compared with others though!
