You could try taking the spark plugs out and give it a good dose of WD40 down each cylinder and leave it overnight. Then try again.

  3. ^^^ whs. This was what mine was like when it arrived from California. WD40 is magic stuff.

    Or old diesel...

When you say out...out of the van or out of the van outside etc?

Do you know when it last ran? Was it sold to you seized? Is it a complete engine or are parts missing?

What's the dip stick oil look like? Is there any in there? Is it free from water, it'll look greyish if there's water in there. Does the oil smell burnt?

It'll turn over easier on that big nut with the spark plugs all out.

  5. If it doesn't turn easily don't try. The rings will be stuck in the cylinder bores and unless there is nice fresh oil in there you'll score the barrels and risk braking the rings. If the engine is out of the bus take it apart and see what's what. It's an easy enough thing to do
    :)
