Hi, Just bought myself my first type 2 and thought I'd introduce her, She's called Wilma, she's a 74 and I think is originally a Devon conversion, I say this as I'm not an expert but believe that to be the type because of the Pop top she has fitted. The previous owner has carried out a full body resto over the last two years and decided to sell up as is with next to no interior so thats the upcoming project. Already been in contact with Newton Commercial ref a new interior and am going to speak to a very good capenter/shop fitter about possible making a custom interior unit, keeping it simular to the full side and overhead type from calypso interiors I think but a bit more one off ish. If anyone has top tips please feel free to share your knowledge as this is my first delve into type 2's so its a bit of a straight in at the deep end, I had a 69 beetle about 7 years back so am not completely new to the scene though. We look forward to meeting some of you at meets throughout the year, Scott, Susan and our Wilma.
Hi looks nice bus , looking at your pics , just be careful with the bellows on poptop they are sticking out side and you dont want them to get holed, expensive job if do. Have fun im sure you will , great crowd on here , nice to have another flintstone in the club lol 8) Just spotted the number plate too nice one
Thanks for the welcomes everyone, can't wait to get to some shows this summer (if we get one) and hopefully meet some other late bay owners.
Thanks for the welcome everyone, well things are all go for our Wilma, she had just had a complete body resto before we got her, but was in need of a interior fit out, we've got her booked for an interior curtsy of Kustom interiors, and the trimming work for seats is getting done through a guy they use regularly. I've put some pics of how she is internally just now, and will update as and when things get fitted in, we're going for a two tone red/cream interior, have a set of Porsche boxster seats to go in, she was originally a walk through model but had a full bulkhead fitted during her resto, but I'll be opening her back up to be a walkthough once more. I'll get a thread going of her journey in the resto section once I get more of her photos uploaded and things have moved along, can't wait to bring her out next year to the shows and meet some fello tlb'ers.
thanks for the welcomes, any top recommends for upcoming shows, we're in scotland so the further north the better otherwise it'll take us a week to get to far south ones )
