Stole this idea of Mr Rickyroo after being impressed with simplicity of his that he made himself. Simples really - get hold of a roll of foil bubblewrap insulation from B n Q or the like, grab a roll of silver tin tape on the way out and get a pair of the Mrs best scissors. An hour later and tied at the corner with resealable cable tie ( halfords or baybirmingham ) depending on who offers the best discount, and the poptop is insulated against the cold on Friday night. I will straighten it out when I fit it properly but for an hours work and £20 I'm happy! Cheers Rick - finished it today so you can have your spare bubblewrap back when we meet up
nice one, i've not used mine since fitting the new canvas but it will make itss way back in for the rest of the year now the temps are dropping.
there is no condensation, it's not like it sits tight to the canvas, it makes a difference for sure, the only "slight" problem is in the rain the noise of the water hitting the plastic compared to the canvas.
Don't think Rick had that problem. I mean he is sweaty and all that but never noticed any excess condensation? @rickyrooo1
I like these. I tried out the thermal window mats at the weekend and I reckon they work well so now i'm thinking about the DIY canvas cover. Am I right in thinking it is a one piece wrapped around ? Whats the tape needed for and how do you keep it fixed on ? Pressume it just pulls tight at the back with rope/string/bungy ? How do you stop it pulling through ?
the bubble wrap is only about 2ft wide you need 3 or 4 foot so you have to make it wider especially on the rear hinged one, all i do to fasten is cable tie the thinner end together through a hole i put in each end.
