  1. hi so i have a late bay 73 but doing full resto soon first thing is how easy and whats involved in restoring a devon pop top ? also my heat exchangers im wondering they have like a lever on them so if u push and pull this lever it opens and closes the inlet on them now should there be cables connected from them to the levers in the cab for the heating ?
    cheers

Yes you should have cables in the dash with sliders left of the fuel gauge.
Do some post searching you will find all the info you need.
These vans are easy enough to restore but difficult to restore well, all those flat body panels need an eye for detail an perfection. Most panels are available and lot of good helpful people on here.
All you need is time and money.
    Good luck

  3. wicked i thought there would be but im having trouble locating them ;\

ok, if you look at the heater levers (have you got the three lever or four lever version) you will see the mechanism if you look up into the dashboard near the central heater totem. Two cables will come from these down into the front panel and dissapear. They go down two steel tubes and come out near the back of the heat exchangers, near the back axle tube. The wire part of the cable will attach to a flap on the heat ex's - this is where the warm air feeds to the front

  8. wicked dude and how about hot or cold air how do i work out which cable goes where ?? ..also where you have stripped ur pop top on the first pic u have removed the inner sheet of the pop top can you explain how this is removed as id like to take it off to check for leaks before show season as it wont be getting fully restored till end of season ..cheers

the cold air comes from the two flaps behind the grill on the front panel - this is a rod which connects from the levers to them, they open and close via this - again you can see it from underneath.
It may be a good idea to take the dashpod out (4 screws) to get better acess and take some pics so we can talk you through the adjustment. The heat ex's close off when the levers are opposite end of the stroke, either open or close!

There is a smaller cable that goes to the heater totem for a vent flap there, again you'll see on the levers where this should connect!

Have a search on here as there is a "How to" guide on setting the heating up correctly and also somewhere is a pdf of the Bentley manual, that will also tell you whats what

  10. wicked dude cheers for that and also the inner shhet of the pop top how does this remove if you dont mind ;)_

    yeah I thought so!

  13. theres a seal that holds that inner sheet of the poptop in, just cut it out and get a new one. most of the leaks on a devon come from 2 areas, the rivets that hold the frame to the top and the corners where the hole in the roof was cut. (i think)

aslong as you re-do the rivets, (or get a roof cap or similar) and seal the corners, new seals. should be water tight.

I'm presuming... i havent done my pop top yet

  14. so the black sealthat sits around the inside sheet holds that in ! seems verry fixed to me i tried pulling it off before and it didnt budge
