In search of the Type 2 vertical box section...?

  1. I've seen plenty of vehicles that use the box sections around door and window frames as conduits for recirculating air...low level heat blown in at the front, heated air drawn out at the top (usually at the back of the vehicle) Fairly standard design....

I know some Westies used the B post as a fridge flue...so the Geek of the Week question is:
Are there any other box sections that run more or less continually from bottom to top in a Type2...?
Ideally, from chassis level to roof height...

...and westies don't use it as a flue, the flue sticks through it - the condensation and heat from a fridge flue would rot it out in a jiffy.

  4. ^this. Condensation would rot through any box section from inside - think Beetle heater channels...

  5. I thought westies have some kind of conduit inside the b post..
Also, if condensation is an issue, how come loads of cars utilize this feature? Maybe they use plastic trunking....which was what I was hoping to do. I know when I was installing cables for interior lightss at roof height, I ran a cable through the C post...was an *rse mind:rolleyes:

Any other suggestions, aside from the one I posted re the JK propex install:
trunking up through the air intakes, vents in the rear 1/4 panels, near the top???
