    just had a text

if someone bought a bug in spain can they drive it back as it's in europe?

  2. Had same text and responded with my best guess advice ;D I assume you need the following

    Customs clearance document
    Registration paperwork
    Proof of sale
    Insurance

I suggested he find the nearest English or Irish bar and ask in there

  3. it needs to be road legal in the country he buys it in, it also needs to be insured. Its illegal to drive around Europe without the registration documents, so he will need these (or at least a copy of them) along with a receipt/bill of sale
    ;D

  4. I would assume you would be ok to drive it off the ferry and then pay C&E once you got home and started the registration process wouldn't you?

  5. ^ yes
    ;D

  7. we have driven buses back from Austria and Germany and in those countries the seller has to buy you an 'export' plate this is like an mot and insurance and is dated it usually gives you 14days to drive away.

without that if you get stopped you have a lotof explaining if its on foreign plates and you are english......however I know of people who have used english plates..as they have no way of checking a data base....or the very first splitty we bought we borrowed a red and white plate from a trader.
