Can someone tell me what type of distributor this is? It seems to have some yellow markings that are hard to read (concealed), but looks like it is stamped 'remanufactured'. I was considering upgrading to a breakerless system, but the local VW guy has told me that a lot of aftermarket systems are less reliable than sticking with the points. Coil looks a bit battered too.
Cant help with the existing i'm afraid, but i bought an Accuspark Vac distributor with breakerless points and a coil for just under £60. so far so good (but has only done about 400 miles) and you can still carry points and condenser as a backup.
Your dizzy looks like the standard VW vacuum & centrifugal unit. Its an excellent unit so don't change it unless you can get a USA spec Electronic ignition one from a 1977 on Bay. or quite a few T25 ones will fit.
