how many and what countries would you visit. would you try and do each continent or concentrate on doing as many with shorter stays. also which way - east or west. my jobs looking a bit rocky and if i'm going to do this it has to be in the next few years, just dont know where to start.......
for me i'd try to do the following: india- 2 weeks china via nepal- 1 week thailand via nietnam 1 week then hop over to hawaii for 1 week then pop to chile and through peru up to mexico for a week do the length of california for a week pop to texas for some steaks for a couple of days then down to florida to have a few chilled days on daytona/cocoa beach before catching a flight back home!
Eight weeks is not very long to do a round the world and it would just be a day in each town. Have a look at dragoman.com they do over landing tours. I just came back from a 3week one in Nepal and northern India it was great. Just a thought
Concentrate on a group of countries close to each other.... You could look at Vietnam, Cambodia, Loas and a bit of Thailand and Malaysia in 8 weeks. Always get overnight sleeper trains too and you dont then waste a day travelling......
Personally, I wouldn't do that much flying in 8 weeks to get a taster of a lot of places. Sounds like an ideal amount of time to drive around the USA / Canada though.
