Identifying which brake callipers

I have a 1971 built camper, Is there an easy way to identify which brake callipers I have as I expect they should be the one year only ones. But before ordering any replacements want to make sure.

Does it have calipers? I thought earlier buses had drums?

 

YES .... I can tell the difference between drums/disks i wouldnt have asked otherwise

measure the pad gap in the callipers (where the pads sit in the calliper) 47mm one year only calliper, 55mm 73-79 calliper

 

what you said there ,Pickles, "one year only ".... what more can you tell me please ? mine came of the production line that year and boy oh boy ,trouble getting the right part(s), so much so i have when poss,ewsorted to taking part to dealer for comparison,and advice/info appreciated.

 

Having a crossover built 71 registered 72 certainly causes me to have the occasional part search problem. as regards the brake callipers I know a "one year only" type exists ... dont ask me as to the rest of the bus as fortunately I haven't had many issues.

it all gets round the caliper holes [71/72] been to small in the hub to fit the larger holed calipers [72-79]

or buy some later hubs...

or recon your calipers with a rebuild kit...
