    Hi all,
I have recently developed what sounds like 'exhaust hole' or something.

I've looked, tried wrapping silencer, ad it looked like it had a split in outer metal.

    Checked valves.

What else do I look at?

You'd have more luck if you hosted it on youtube and posted the link rather than expecting peeps to download it?
Even dropbox lets you play a file without downloading it.

I clicked the link, it played .. if there is a crack in the exhaust, it will sound.

Use the old trick of a length of hose pipe one end held to your ear while poking around with the other to localise the sharp crackle of an exhaust leak. It will probably show up at idle.
Check also around cylinder to head joints .

    Sounds like a ticking.
Have you had your rear tin off?
I did, on mine, and my wonky pulley wheel was touching it. Sounded like that, a bit.
Probably not the cause, but that’s what happened on mine.

  6. my amateur knowledge/experience:

    are the cylinder heads stuck?
Stud bolts loose? Are there exhaust gases visible anywhere besides the cylinder heads? Abnormalities at spark plug colors?
