I just found a bay camper

  1. Coming back from the cinema last night i drove past an old BMW garage which had a bay camper sat outside in the corner of the yard.
Just a bare yellow and white shell from what i could make out looking through the gate in the dark. It looks like its been sitting with no windows in for a while and just looked so sad and unloved. :(

I really have no space for another bus and my missus would probably kill me if i did get it, but something is drawing me to it. ::)

Should i go and see if its for sale?

  2. yeh cheer her up for christmas do it ;)

  4. Its always worth an ask

  5. Try and save another one,ya,ya, then save yourself. (LOL). Who knows why you're being drawn toward it, but you can't tell if you don't ask about it. Let us know after you've made contact, we want to see how your spidy senses are working!

  6. Oh forgot to say

    :ttiwwp:

  7. Not managed to get to see it while they were open yet so no piccies.
Who has ever heard of a garage that shuts at 5pm? ::)

  8.
  9. what`s the beast next to it...?

  10. With the cover on? I think its a vauxhall chevette.

  11. Has anyone done a complete roof transplant on a late bay?
Searched on here but couldn't find anything.

  12. The missus says i should go and find out if they want to sell it.

Is that one of the signs of the apocalyse?

    Go now !!!!!!!

  14. Must have been parked in a swamp to rot like that. How late is it as that could well be a 6 rib box in there! Incidentally my last camper spent a good few years rotting in a grave-yard ( a real one not a metaphor) in Workington. Was better than the one I had which got used for spares to do it up!

  15. I think its pre 1975 going by the engine lid hinges but other than that i've no idea how old it is.
Apart from the roof the rest is in pretty decent condition. Much better than mine anyway.

Thinking of just parting it out anyway as i could do with the front end from the B pillars forwards.

  16. Gonna take another run to see it after the new year when the garage is open again.

  17. Would it be wrong to do something like this to it?

Its already missing the doors and has a rotten roof.

  18. That would look the nuts as an open top like the other two pics . Go for it mate , at worst its going to make a great base for an open bay and at best its a good base for a resto ! all depending on price of course ? . Good luck with it ! 8)

  19. Well one way of looking at it is its another bay saved even if you did that to it

  20. Maybe you could do this to it:
