I’m a qualifies sparks so you’d think electrics if any kind should be a walk in the park …but I’m baffled at the moment offside rear indicator works as should until the brake is applied, the indicator stops flashing until the brake is released . I’ve had the cluster out , cleaned all connection , either swapped or tightened all spade connections but it hasn’t helped It doesn’t do it on the near side .. anyone any pointers ??
Bad earth? High impedance on the supply? I would guess the former, as that's the common part of the circuit.
I would say earth problem as well. Run a wire from the battery neg, to the indicator housing, and see if it sorts it.
I was going to try a flying lead off the battery until my wife reminded me that I have to drive her to the shops and follow her round like a sheep .. in this heat …
The stuff on our vans very basic easy stuff. One of the key things is not to over think it and if you get any oddball stuff happening it will be a earthing problem.
Drop her off, then drive home so she has to walk back in this heat carrying all the shopping. She won't ask you again and you get to live in peace. In a bedsit.
I’ve cleaned them all up and bent the negative connection in each bulb holder to ensure good connectivity . does anyone know where the brown negative wire is tied down to the chassis ?
Pretty certain it should go to a spade connector just to the left or right of the deck lid, but I could be wrong... it's been known. I mean, I don't even know how to open a pack of wipes properly
Reminds me of a conversation with a Prof at Chicago Uni I worked with, for a brief period, a few years ago. We were chatting about the difference between analog electronics (scope front ends etc) and digital electronics...he said, with a straight face..."MIT produce 250 Electrical Engineering graduates a year, about 240 of them can do digital". The penny dropped about 20 seconds after he closed his mouth.
