  1. Hi all,

    with the bus neally ready for MOT I really need to start thinking about getting it insured

    I'd like an agreed value insurance policy but dont know how much to insure for

    ......just finishing a 4yr nut and bolt restoration, so if youve seen my resto thread how much do you think I should insure for?

    ....oh yea, I've not got an interior yet :D

    any advice appreciated

  2. They will want pictures of it finished , id name your price only you know what its worth to you , they will say yay or nay or charge accordingly.

  3. I did the same last week, I valued the bus at what I paid for it, and the amount of work I have paid to get it to MOT status, but before I took the agreed valuation I asked if I could increase it at a later stage which they agreed, to get your lowest quote for the van, price it at what it owes you, not what it's going to be like in six or maybe 9 months time, hope this helps

  4. I've just renewed my insurance with an agreed valuation, I wouldn't use the bus without knowing the value is agreed if anything went wrong. In the first year with a different insurer they wanted a boatload of photos and a valuation from a club or reputable company which cost me to obtain. Second year I used Heritage who asked for pictures of the exterior, interior and engine bay and they emailed them to a specialist valuer who agreed my valuation the same day. I got a certificate of agreed valuation and confirmation in writing. This year they asked if I wanted to increase the value and sent me the documents incase I did. Seems like some companies use a common sense approach and others are pedantic. Like others have said, only you know what you want to insure it for. Seems like up to 30k is not uncommon

  5. cheers guys :)

    all insured now - went for a £16K agreed valuation, fully comp, unlimited milage, with salvage rights, cover at classic rallies & shows

    turns out I was still insuring my MGB oops!!! ....so I could transfer the insurance over to the bus

    £147 :chewie::chewie:

    ....only cost me another £47 as the MG cost £100 per year to insure

    for those interested it was with RH specialist car insurance and I've had a classic vehicle policy with them for the last 9yrs with out any problems :)

    I highly recommend them as my premium has never gone up in that time :chewie: ....well maybee by about £5 !!

  6. Silver

    Silver Needs points/will pay!

    Make sure you increase to £20k+ as soon as you have an interior fitted and perhaps more when you have a real engine fitted.:)
