you could take cylinder head off ,then number 2 piston and change the rings and barrel... are you sure it is not just a lead?
Either way, I will get it sorted later in the year when I can pool a bit of cash for parts. Thanks everyone for your advice, helps to know you have options
5 Years? 5 Years? It's not URGENT urgent, but dude, take a ride in somebody else's van to see what you're missing. Firing on 3 is absolutely miserable!
Ha ha I know, people keep telling me about this thing called 'the motorway' but I haven't seen it properly yet, this year could be the one
If you are going to continue driving on 3 cylinders then remove the inlet pushrod and tighten up the exhaust tappet on the non working cylinder. This will stop fuel contaminating the oil and going into the exhaust system. It will also remove the drag effect of a non working cylinder.
It's a lame cylinder but still works, performance fluctuates but I'm always able to get her over 90 kilometers per hour on a link road for example. Her last compression test read 4:1 but the time just before that 7:1 on the cylinder in question so I'm well aware of the situation. I wanna hold out till I can afford an engine rebuild, I think the whole thing needs an overhaul, one of the other pistons is under performing too and it sure would be nice to finally drive her as she should be driven, bearing in mind I've never done this
