Does anyone have any useful links to find any info on your vans history? Found this... http://regarchive.com/plate/RBW729L Looks like our van was first registered in Oxfordshire.
Is there anything I can find out on the internet for free? Just to have some fun finding some info now?
bw was a reg tag for oxford used until 1974 this is just the local office the van was 1st registered to
I did this and got a photocopy of every V5C doc since first reg in 1982. It took about 4 weeks to arrive and I guess they actually send someone down to the dungeons to dig out the papers and copy them. Good value for only a fiver. Found out that Bilbo was imported from NL from this. When I get the time I'm going to write to all PO's and ask for some history in the hope that perhaps a few are still at the same addresses
I did the writing to PO addresses from old invoices and the log book sending a photo of the bus, an SAE, email and phone contact details and only got 2 responses from 6 One said the PO had moved and there were no forwarding details and the second was one of the SAE's with a photograph and the PO's contact details Looks a little different back then but at least I have a little background information (in the guise the bus was "Ursula but the last PO nick named it Hursula because it was so dark inside and out!) and gone are the Porsche wheels and adaptors and the leather covering for the interior ("borrowed" from the interior trimmers the guy worked at!) was replaced with cream vinyl Still a work in progress but will get there one day! Mr B
think yourselves lucky most of us yank owners know nothing, i wrote to the last american owner but got nothing back, the california dmv have no e-mail addy so i'm stumped.
Mine, it appears, has remained up here in Manchester - registered in Manchester and the last keeper was Manchester - I'm guessing it's not been far away if at all - might do one of those DVLA things. I am the 8th keeper so there would be 6 that I don't know about to contact...
