How do i fit a replacement rear outrigger as the handbrake conduit runs through it?

  1. I've got a replacement rear most outrigger to fit to my westy but wondering what to do about the handbrake conduit as it runs through a hole in the outrigger.

I don't really want to remove the conduit to fit the outrigger so do i just cut a slot in the outrigger to the hole, bend it out of the way, weld the outrigger in then weld the slot back up?

That exactly. My conduits were toast so replaced them with stainless and just thread it through, but most just cut it I think.
I did a similar thing for where the loom runs through the crossmembers (poss would have been nicer to remove the loom though in hindsight).

  3. Cutting a slot in the outrigger to the conduit hole looks like the easiest option as the conduit is solid, even after attacking it with a wire brush on a grinder.

  5. cut a piece oit of the conduit slightly wider than the outrigger, pop it through the hole, mount outrigger, tack conduit back together.

  6. Too late, i cut a slot up to the hole and will weld a section back in afterwards.
