Am i correct in thinking if i'm suffering hot start issues you get lights to dash that extinguish when you turn the key but your starter is dead? just came home all went well, stopped van on road to move car off drive and now nothing......

  2. You checked Batt. voltage R.R.? and the usual suspect essential cables?

  3. Yup that's what happened to me. Headlight work, dashlight work, no starter - give it 45 mins and it'll be fine

batt fully charged on voltmeter, drops down when you turn the key as if solenoid is pulling power, can't bump or anything to test starter with it being auto...... it can't be the inhibitor on the autobox as i bypassed that ages ago, can i run a jump lead from battery positive straight to starter solenoid pole to see if the ignition switch is playing up? starter motor is very hot though, came home at a fair speed with cable ties cut on heaters so all engine heat has been dumping out right by the starter....

the strange thing is, there's a hotstart relay fitted by the p/o, that said it's the 1st time this has happened in 2 years, there is a wire hanging by the solenoid which has never been connected, two fairly thick wires are going to the starter though, nothing has obviously come off and it's been stopped well over 2 hours now so i'm suspecting ignition switch? it's mad how an engine runs perfect one second then nothing... bleeding electrickery gremlins!
