  6. Thanks for replies I have the ski slope on the drivers side on mine, the gearbox has been rebuilt so shouldn’t be that, I’ve never driven a bay before this was a non runner when I brought him maybe I’ve just got to get used to it

For carb balance I would get a flow meter.

For gear selection fiddle with the shifter plate first check the bolt in the gearbox coupler is central in the dimple, is tight and wired securely against working loose. Also there is no slop in the coupler there or in the bushing at the very front of the shift rod under the cab.

  9. Have sorted indicators out with new hazard switch and have adjusted the shifter plate so the gears do feel a bit better. The van has been stood for years and I’ve had the engine and gearbox rebuilt new wiring loom lots of welding and new metal. It’s close to being a new van but still throwing problems at me but I suppose that’s what old vehicles do lol . I’ve fitted twin carbs, dellortoes anyone know a good mobile tuner close to Mansfield notts .

  10. Dying or dead breed man with Crypton tuner in back of van. I recon if someone is still doing it and is prepared to travel there is still a living to be made.

If you just want to get somewhere , fit an old stock carb and manifold to your engine, as that can be set up easily without skills.
Then take your bus and new carbs to a proper engine tuner when you find them, and swap over to the Dells when you arrive..

Or come to Techenders, make sure somebody has a flow meter on hand and swap over then.
I know for instance somebody @1973daisey had a CO meter a few Techenders back, and i know there are a few people with flowmeters.

At a stretch I do have an adapter for my PLX devices Air Fuel Ratio sensor setup too, that wedges in the exhaust pipe so I could unbolt it and use its analog output to a meter with a cigarettelighter plug to power it .

I use this to setup my progressive over time with jet changes and then driving it watching the meter.

Ive suggested Pete Burgess in Alfreton in the past, would still recommend Pete & Keith now. Keith knows his aircooled, his daily is a split screen :D
