i think I'll be putting my in socket underneath as well but linked to a RCD two gang extension socket inside the van - not a zig or fuse board

 

Mabel, beware of doing this and using just an RCD socket. I proposed doing this and was warned of this by a few people more learned than I. It seems this will not offer complete protection in case of an accident. See below......

my hookup point is under the van next to the jacking point, it is then wired to a consumer box under the RnR seat.

matty be careful as my water tap connection squited out under cupboard today and soaked everything, as on my tap i have hot and cold but only connected the cold and didnt cap the hot one .
looks nice and tidy

Thats were stress faliure of the wire would occur first

I know its an easy fix if they do break down its normally at the worst time
You dont need drip loops in a vehicle but i like to do them with wiring as it acts as a sort of wiring suspension when the bus is vibrating and moving

 

Don't forget, chaps, that if you've got big exposed metal surfaces (like the sink), it's worth earth-bonding them just like in your house.

 

Do you mean the wire on the left side of the charger, i did notice that and changed before it went back it, i was just being lazy the first time.

The cables have a small loop behind the wood work to allow for movement as that's where the movement wound be but if its mounted on the metal work i like to have it secured to stop and movement at the temanals

i wound not normally put it under the sink but that's where he wanted it and the water bits are further away than the pic shows.

 

What do people think of the portable units as supplied by JK and caravan stores? They have RCD, three sockets and plug and go into a supply.

 

I have one and use it in the awning. It has clips on the back which allow it to be clipped to a table leg, so it keeps it off the floor.

 

I used one for 4 years without issue ,Wilmas use one as well ,fine ,just sling it through the window

 

They do not comply with electrical regs for use inside a van and are for use in tents awnings only

Yes, thats why they say they're suitable for caravans. OK if you take the wheels off I suppose.

 

I use one of those with 3 plugs and put it in the awning, when we take the awning, I then plug the vans 240v into it so I get two plugs in the awning and 2 plugs in the van. Pretty sure I shouldn't be doing it.

 

No, you probably shouldn't be doing it. If you want to run your van power and awning power at the same time, something like this would probably be far more appropriate:
