Got a funny feeling it's something like, on the 1st April 2020 if your bus was 40 years old by 1st Jan 2020, you can claim it from then. I think that's right but someone more knowledgeable will correct me if not.
I just went onto a government webchat site. After a few questions with a robot, they put Christopher on who seemed to be a real person, and he confirmed this as so for me. I was expecting it to be 1/1/20, as mine was built Feb 79, but I can wait a bit longer.
I agree. The Post Office was easy, handed over the docs and got a new "Historic" V5 2 weeks later. I think because our little sub-post office is owner operated, they had to learn everything and knew how to do it. Maybe that's a tip, dunno?
It took me three post offices to eventually find one that knew what they were doing, even then only one of the staff had heard of Historic status and the process to get it. The bigger deal now a days is that there are fewer post offices, most have been shut down and even less that do vehicle taxation as it's all done online now.
