high tickover

    1600 type 1 with rebuilt solex pict34 carb with standard single vac advance dissy all tuned as per http://www.vw-resource.com/34pict3.html

    the only way to get the tickover right is to screw in the big screw all the way checked for air leaks cant find any

    And check you have something on the manifold vacuum takeoff and the distributor advance takeoff on the carb body.

    I realised looking at my old Bocar (in a cardboard box in the garage) hat somebody had blocked the ported vacuum on the carb and teed the manifold vacuum to the distributor and the air cleaner. No wonder it was impossible to setup as the vacuum advance was on all the time ... And probably why it is in the box now.
