Just agreed terms on a '76 Bay, so I'll be picking it up within the next two weeks or so from Scotland, chuffed to bits, last time we had a Bay was over 20 years ago, a '72 I think, I can vaguely remember the registration, but if I spot it on here I'll let the present owner know, ha.Had a '68 1500 Beetle until two or three years ago, when we'd finished, my son wrote it off within a month (sigh), he survived but the T1 bit the dust.I decided not to put the '73 T3 Squareback on the road until my children had left. I bought it in 2005 and it slowly rusted on the drive until December 2012, when a cheeky scrap man knocked the front door and asked if I wanted £200 for it, he left with a flea in his ear and I spent £1000 and put the T3 on the road, this is now my daily driver, but I plan to restore it. In July this year, I came into a small inheritance, and as fate would have it, the car of my childhood lusts came up for sale on eBay, a '73 T4 412 LS Squareback (I only bought the T3 because I couldn't find a T4), so with the help of a friend, pmacs49, we picked it up from Peterborough, woo hoo, its got an MoT until May, but as I'm waiting for the Chancellor to make good his word on pre-'74 vehicle road tax, its not on the road yet, ha. So there you have it, an old newbie, they never had the inter web when I were a lad...
Hi Welcome... Love those type 3's and type 4's - pics please If I could afford it I'd have a Type 1, Type 2 Type 3 and a Type 4 but for now I'll stick with the Type 2
Thank you for all the welcomes, I's humbled... I didn't think pics of anything none late bay was allowed outside the threads for that purpose, so if you guys want a few pictures I'll post them there, wouldn't want to upset the Moderators, it would likely cost me too much in beer... I did have a T1 before the T4, but my youngest son wrote it off...hoo hum, I will get another one eventually, probably a Cabriolet if I can persuade er indoors I desperately need one, ha. Was drinking in the pub with Phil earlier in the night, dropped him off on the way home using the T3...seems we've decided on where our club is going next year...France, cool, because I've never held a passport before, despite having been to Holland, Germany, and Denmark...now work that one out...
