  1. Hello All
I am completely new the the bus scene having been a beetle man for many years.
I have just purchased a 79 bay in need of some tlc, a real shame and the previous owner was devastated.
I hope to give the old bus it's life back but may need some help and advice from you guys and girls.
I look forward to chatting to some of you and hopefully seeing you at next years shows. attachment.jpeg BC.jpg BC2.jpg BC1.jpg BC3.jpg

    Good luck with the bus.

Hi from Cheshire, might as well paint out the V and put the indicators back in the right place whilst you're at it :p

I'm not far from Woolston - in Hamble - and may have a few bits n pieces I took off my engine knocking around.

Suggest you start by taking out the engine and cleaning up the tinware and metalwork and generally painting it before it goes really rusty. Even wire brush then Kurust would slow it down.

And I like the open-plan ignition coil .

Slough swapmeet on Sunday for second hand bits.

And can I recommend a fuel shutoff solenoid. Converted my engine bay fire from a writeoff to a "quite annoying" Sunday splicing in new wires and cleaning out the dry powder. Set fire to it on Saturday, drove to work as usual on Monday.

  20. make sure you replace the fuel hose with ethanol resistant stuff, not just R9 rated stuff. There are some threads on here
