Hi and thanks for having me here. I am going to need loads af advice as this winter I will embark on my magic mission to turn rust into metal! Loads of rust. I purchased my panel van at the end of January and have spent the last 8 months purchasing all the panels required to start - nearly have enough to build a van from scratch! When I figure out how to upload some photos I will - but I did slap together a quick website in February for the inital drive home and windscreen / dash removal. It should give you an idea of the work ahead but I have not updated in since early in the year. http://www.myvwvan.co.uk Thanks,
Welcome to the asylum. Lots of good advice to be found on here...covering all topics including vans )
Thanks everyone and I'll let you know MADPAD. I'm already stuck - I haven't started as I cant decide what direction to go in. Do I keep standard with just a little ride height reduction keeping the same colour, wheels etc.... or do I have a custom play........? 80% of me wants to keep as original as possible with a 70s custom interior theme, whilst the other 20% wants to do something shamefull! ...........I must start soon, otherwise it will sit on my drive like the "72" 1200 beetle rotting away! Regards, MYVWVAN
welcome aboard tlb , enjoy your cruise . so what are you gonna do with the beetle ?. your a long way away but i'm after a t/e 1200 beetle !.
The Beetle - It owes me £400 so as long as I got my money back, I would realistically let it go. It has no interior or seats. Heater channels are ok apart from the front drivers section. I was planning to fit 2 new front quaters, repair front heater section and a few patches to the rear. Bonnet, wings , deck lid are all there and need some small attention. It sits on empi 8 spokes with new tyres all round, disk breaks up front, lowered beam and it must be turned at the back, though the engine is out. That was how I purchased it last April - and then along came a spider panel van........ For now it sits until the van is done - could be a few years but in no rush.........
hello , your future is unwritten ,sir , it aint the destination, its the journey !<<<whoever came up with that one NEVER restored a bay !
