Hi All, Just a quick thread to say hello. Myself and the girlfriend have just bought our first VW Camper project It's a tax exempt 1972/3 Westy that has been off the road for 6 years. It seems very genuine and although it needs a significant amount of welding, is pretty much complete and doesn't seem to have anything hidden by filler. The current owner has had it for nearly 20 years. I don't know anything about air cooled VWs or campers but I have completed a number if big projects in the the past (About 5 Mini restorations and grafting a Toyota Camry 3.0l V6 into a MK1 MR2) and I used to be a welder which I think will help It's being collected in a couple of weeks so please keep a look out for a new restoration thread. Meanwhile I'm on the lookout for a new welder to replace the one stolen from my shed last year!! I'm sure I'll be asking for lots of advice and will hopefully be able to give something back to the forum too. Cheers, Andy
welcome, looks like you got one with a bit of history there, a good thing if it's had the same owner for so long as well i guess, look forward to seeing your resto.
welcome to the site, you've certainly found the best forum on the net looking forward to your resto thread
Welcome mate, good luck with the project there great fun when up and running properly! A V6 in a Mk1 MR2? wow I used to have one about 15 years ago and recently found one for a friend for a Scally rally (rally across europe in a cheap car) found a tatty one on e bay for £175, less than one of my back tyres on my 911! I was amazed how much fun it was to drive and cant get them outta my mind now lol, have seen a few with the mk2 2.0l lump or supercharger in that look tempting ! Carl
