Hello everyone. We're Neil & Mel & have owned VW's for some years now. I've taken the plunge & joined the forum as it seems an amazing resource for the loves of our lives. Thankyou to all who contribute as I'm sure I'll need some of your advice & expertise in the coming months. It's time to refurbish our Westy, Chip. The interior is worn out after over 30 odd hard years in the US & I've got some upgrades planned to enhance the camping experience. We've lived in the bus for 6 months whilst touring the US & again around the coast of France, Portugal & Spain & can't really fault the Westfalia set-up. What would you do different if you could redesign yours?

    Hi and welcome.

As far as your interior goes, in my eyes it has to be the best for 1 or 2. Loads of space and really adaptable.

4 major things I did to mine was:

Make a removable cooker unit from a Helsinki by he sliding door.
Turn the spare wheel cupboard into a cocktail cabinet and spare parts cupboard.
Remove the water tank and replace with a smaller one and fit pull out shelves.
Cut 13" of the overhead locker to stop me cracking my head on it.

By the way I'm loving the full length curtain by the door.

  14. Hello there !

  15. Wow what a great pic! Welcome to TLB...

A mate of mine had a little narrow boat, well more of a bachelor pad as it was just him, first time we visited him he took me in through a tiny little door at the rear, I had to go through sideways as my shoulders were wider than the door and even then my fat gut only just got through, but once inside it was great...

He did let me leave via the much bigger double doors at the front as he actually thought I wouldn't fit through the little door, he'd had his phone ready as I think he really thought I would get stuck

  16. Hello, good evening and welcome.
There appears to be some sort of 'modern' vehicle gatecrashing your photo. ;)
