  1. Hello im fitting a new head unit took the old 1 out and the only wires i have is the 1 with the fuse in and the 1 that was on the case can you tell me what wires i need to use
    ThanksSimon

  2. need to get a switched live off the ignition (mine was already spliced into the ignition). Some on here will advise as to what one on the fuse box you can use. Otherwise, use the wires you have but you'll have to turn it off and on every time you use it. As for the one on the case, you can earth this to the body behind the dash.

  3. Wot you have there is the power supply and the earth.

If its a new unit and has those ISO connectors there should be a wiring diagram showing you where the power goes, earth, the keep the memory alive (which will need a feed which is live when the ignition is off), electric aerial (I guess you won't be using that), and the speakers 2 in the front and 2 in the back.

As I tend to listen to the music alot when parked up for the night I wired my head unit into the leisure battery in order to ensure there is power in the starting battery the next morning. You will be surprised how quick a car stereo will flatten a battery.

  5. If you want to listen to the radio while parked up without having the ignition on install a switch under the dash. In one position it works so the radio comes on when the ignition does and in the other position it supplies 12v from the leisure battery so the radio comes on.
I was surprised at how much current draw my head unit had if you connect the switched (red) wire permanently to a 12v supply instead of the ignition, hence the need for a switch.

  6. I'm trying to 'see' this in my head as it seemed a good idea. So the switch goes in the red wire circuit with on side to switched live on ignition and the other side to perm live on leisure circuit/fuse box ?
